Food is Fuel.....

Nobody looks forward to going to the gas station. Nobody says "Oh boy!, I'm going to stop and top off the tank!". Food is fuel. I don't need to look forward to meal-time...it's just a necessary task. Food is fuel. I need nutrients...I need vitamins...I need minerals.....I need the appropriate combinations of fat, carbs and protein. Food is fuel. I don't need 'flavors' of gasoline...I don't need high-octane. My body runs fine on 87 octane regular-unleaded. Food is fuel. Same station, same octane, same pump every week.....no need to 'mix it up', because my car/body won't care. Food is fuel. I don't need to get pleasure from my 'fuel'.....I need a high-energy, vitamin fortified sludge that has everything a human machine needs. I can get pleasure from other places...other activities. Food is fuel.

*sigh*. The car doesn't care...but I guess the driver does.

  • Yo Jeff, great progress! You seem to have a great base knowledge now about nutrition/fitness, which is more than most americans. Ive been through the whole food is/is not for pleasure thing. The fact is anyone whos human will derive some if not much pleasure from food. The important thing for me was the type of pleasure. The pleasure should begin and end in the mouth. The pleasure comes from the taste/texture/smell etc. It should not however come from the very temporary chemical release/high that comes from consuming large quanities of high calorie food. This type of release/high is much better/healthy if it comes from things like exercise.
Using something like truffles as an example, the taste is wonderful but the taste doesnt improve after one or two. After that your going for whole different kind of pleasure.
