100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #34

Fell off the wagon yesterday. Then the wagon ran me over. Twice. Then it left me for dead. I'm STILL trying to count all the calories. I'm pretty sure that I didn't eat more than I burned (basal + exercise), but it will be close. I burned close to 6000 yesterday. Breakfast was 500 calories. Lunch had to be 2500 (reduced fat pringles, a suzy-q and half a cheeze/sausage pizza). Dinner was more pizza...fries, chicken nuggets...and some low cal ice-cream/brownies for dessert.
*sigh* Checked the scale this morning (after the olestra in the pringles made its way out)....same weight as last Monday. Sheesh. Well, I've got 2 days to make a dent in this week's goal. No salt, no soda, 1500 calories strict and EXERCISE!. In the greater scheme of things, I know that 1 no-calorie deficit day will not hurt me. I figure this blow-up was 33 days in coming (I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner). Well...I'm one-third of the way done here. No time for tears. Just a few more weeks before the weather lets me get on that new bike.....

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #33

AHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!
I hate the scale. I hate working hard and seeing no results. I hate getting up at 5:15am and falling asleep at 9:30pm. I hate having only 420 calories left for dinner. I hate the fact that my right forearm hurts every time I try to open a shampoo bottle.

But...I also hate not being able to sit in a booth at a restaurant. I also hate having to shop in the big/tall section. I also hate not being able to see my feet when I lay down (heck...or even when I stand up).

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #32

Super-heavy aerobic exercise day yesterday...over 2200 calories burned.
More strength training today....
I believe this Monday's weigh-in will be pivotal. Bad weigh-in will be hard to make up for.
Good weigh-in will give a needed boost to hit the halfway point with head held high.

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #31

Back on the processed foods, soda and salt. And I am a happier person for it.
:)
Still keeping to 1500 calories, still exercising between 1000 and 15000 calories per day....
still losing weight.
160 pounds down since highest recorded weight.
140 pounds down since April 17th of last year.
Becoming easier to 'get to' balls on the racquetball court. Speed helps in that game...a lot.

Lets put up some big numbers this week!!!

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #30

Resistance training has officially begun.
And I'll tell you what, even after 3 sessions (different groups over a couple of days), I can see/feel differences already. I'm actually going to to probably limit home workouts to arms/shoulders/abs and leave back/chest/legs for at-work gym workouts (where I have access to some better equipment). Been making sure I have protein in the system either just before or after workout with weights.

Morning racquetball partner and I did a few circuits up and the stairwells at work before playing....actually felt 100% better one we started playing because my heart was pumping and I was loosened up. Stairs are sure an ass-kicker though. We'll prob add that to every morning's routine.

Back on some saltier processed foods (bologna/hot dogs/soda), but I figure I'll ease off on the salt late-week (Friday) and eliminate by Sunday each week.

I think this week I will avoid the scale until Friday/Saturday.

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #28

Up and down, up and down. I hate the scale. I'm actually a tad worried about tomorrow's weigh-in. Focus today. Low salt, no soda, exercise. I finally pulled a lot of stuff I had together (from magazines, internet, books, etc) and pulled together a slew of single-dumbbell exercises for myself. My theory is that I'll keep my dumbbell set upstairs (where I'm more likely to use 'whenever') I've categorized them....bicep, triceps, back, chest, shoulders (even one or two for abs). Trying to put a couple of routines together (there are simply too many exercises for a single session) that will give me a pretty good overall workout and start building up some muscle (I'm gonna need help burning calories soon!) As for the weigh-in tomorrow, I am praying for 5 pounds (which would keep me on track for 1 pound per day) at least.....we'll see.

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #27

Low exercise day yesterday...missed a scheduled racquetball game because of a work meeting and couldn't pull it together enough for a long workout at night. Still, I built up a sweat twice for over 20 minutes...so we'll see.

I think I'll spend the weekend getting re-dedicated to weight training. I have a bunch of magazine articles with some exercises I can do with the limited equipment I have at home...I need to create a plan and stick to it. Building muscle is the only way I'm going to be able to sustain a pound a day in the later weeks (and get me through until march when I can cycle for more calories)

100 Pounds in 100 Days - Day #26

Highest calorie day since I started this phase...1625 or so. A tad irritated with myself, because I knew what I was doing and could have stopped it. Had about 500 calories left going into dinner. Went to Texas Roadhouse for a delayed wife's-family Christmas dinner (don't ask). It's one of those places where they seat you with a basket of rolls/butter and a bucket of peanuts. I successfully avoided the rolls...and carefully counted out 20 peanuts (about 100 calories) and drank water. Others at my table ordered a HUGE prime rib (my FAVORITE cut of meat), giant burgers and fries, boneless pork chops, etc. Had a small plain salad with my meal of baked chicken (half-bird) and a plain baked potato and a small side salad (plain). I KNEW that I should just eat the breast (counting the calories in my head), but I just couldn't stop myself from attacking the thigh/drumstick portion. As punishment, I met my brother-in-law for racquetball afterwords, but the damage was done. While the extra calories isn't going to have ANY impact on my loss this week, it's a sign of the degradation of my commitment to the 'pillar' rules of the plan. I've noticed myself lately grabbing a pretzel here or a grape there without the desire to track it. I've got to recommit myself to tracking every calorie and sticking to the rules I set up in the beginning. Mid-week weigh-ins have me right on schedule for 7 pounds this week.
